Data
Support for Ukraine in the European Parliament, 2014-2019
The dataset combines five votes (3,756 observations) in the European Parliament on EU-Ukraine cooperation that concern aid and trade between Ukraine and the EU. Information about the data and control variables is provided in the Codebook.
The data can be used for a variety of statistical analyses to understand how MEPs form attitudes on foreign policy issues.
I created the dataset to analyze a statistical association between Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) voting on Ukraine and Russian Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in MEPs’ home countries. Results from the analysis are reported in the journal article “Foreign economic policy in the European Parliament and economic interdependence with foreign powers”, published in European Union Politics 2021.
